About the Bilingual Case Manager Position

The Bilingual Case Manager for the Unaccompanied Children’s Program, under the supervision of the Lead Case Manager, acts as an advocate for the youth, supporting them in exercising their rights, choices, and responsibilities. The main role of the Case Manager is to ensure that each child is safe and cared for, and is reunited with a suitable parent, guardian, or sponsor in the most expeditious manner possible. This position requires the consistent exercise of discretion and judgment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Ensure safety for all UC within each home;
  • Coordinate and handle an estimated case load of 8-10 at any given time;
  • Coordinate initial intake for each UC;
  • Schedule/confirm each UC has an initial medical evaluation within 48 hours of arrival;
  • Coordinate and assist the Clinician to assure the admission assessment and family tree are completed within 3 days of arrival;
  • Coordinate and assist Clinician to assure the psychosocial summary and individualized Service Plan (ISP) are completed within 7 days of arrival;
  • Manage reunification process for each UC;
  • Keep information updated in UC portal;
  • Coordinate the discharge and release of child to their sponsor;
  • Respond to client emergencies within or outside work hours;
  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant behavioral/social sciences field;
  • 2-4 years progressive experience in case management.

Skills/Knowledge:

  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) language competency required;
  • Strong communication and organizational skills;
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office and web-based databases;
  • Strong sense of ethics and capacity to interact with ORR stakeholders;
  • Demonstrated willingness to be a team player;
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Salary:

56-59K

Physical Demands:

  • Required to frequently sit, stand, bend, stoop and walk, sometimes for extended periods;
  • Ability to walk up and down stairs;
  • Required to lift/move objects and/or youth weighing in excess of 40 pounds;
  • Must have visual, hearing, and learning capabilities sufficient to perform the essential functions defined above.

Environment and Scheduling:

  • Work is performed in designated program;
  • Duties involve contact with youth who may be traumatized;
  • Must be flexible and available to work additional hours when necessary;
  • May be scheduled to work on weekends and/or holidays.
