About the Part Time Graphic Designer Position

The Part-Time Graphic Designer position will report directly to the Social Media and Communications Manager. This position is 20 to 25 hours a week, with a schedule to be determined by manager and chosen candidate. The primary function of the role is to create graphic designs and support the Communications team.

Functions of the position include but not limited to:

• Assist the communications department with all deliverables that include graphic design for flyers, brochures, posters, postcards and other marketing materials;
• Support internal and external communications;
• Assist with developing and utilizing graphic design.
• Perform other duties as requited.
• Proficiency in Design Software: Expertise in tools like Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign is essential. Experience in Canva is a plus.
• Portfolio: A strong portfolio showcasing a range of design projects is critical for demonstrating ability.
• Understanding of Design Principles: Knowledge of typography, color theory, layout, and composition.
• Web Design Skills: Familiarity with web design principles and tools can be a plus.

Experience

• Previous Work Experience: Experience in freelance work or relevant projects can be valuable.

• Industry Knowledge: Understanding of the specific industry or type of design (e.g., print, digital, branding) can be advantageous.

Soft Skills

• Creativity and Originality: Ability to generate unique ideas and concepts.
• Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication for collaborating with clients and team members. Must know Associated Press Style Guide.
• Time Management: Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines effectively.

Additional Qualifications

• Adaptability: Willingness to learn new tools and adapt to different styles and needs.

• Attention to Detail: A keen eye for detail to ensure high-quality work.

Educational Background

• Degree in Graphic Design or Related Field: While not always required, a degree can provide foundational skills.
• Certifications: Additional certifications in graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite) can be beneficial.

Hourly Rate: $23.00-$25.00/Hr
