Youth Care Specialist - Direct Care Provider - All Shifts - Casa Salama - Bartlett IL 60103

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must have a valid Illinois Driver's License
  • Must have High School Diploma or GED and experience OR college degree preferred.
  • Evening 2pm-10pm, Overnight Part time 4 ten-hour shifts

In addition, should have demonstrated skills in the field of services to adults or children, have demonstrated the ability to work within the provider's structure and accept supervision, and have demonstrated the ability to work constructively with clients.

$18.73 per hour. Eligible for hourly overtime.

About Casa Salama

The Casa Salama Program provides home-like residential treatment for adolescent females, ages 13-21, who have a history of childhood trauma and maltreatment, and who are intellectually disabled and mentally ill. Treatment is intended to build stable, consistent and healthy relationships with staff; foster the healthy regulation of emotions; and build social, emotional, behavioral, and spiritual resources within the youth.

Duties include:

  • Provides individual and group instruction in social living skills, independent living skills, vocational and job-related skills, appropriate touch, anger management skills, maintenance and hygiene skills, academic and study skills, and recreation activities.
  • Documents Medicaid services completes unusual Incident Reports;
  • Participates in individual and treatment team meetings and treatment team decisions regarding the program and assigned youth. Provides information to the team which will then inform the team on decisions about client care.
  • Assists youth with processing of events and emotions in a confidential manner in all behavioral areas.
  • Implements Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NCI) techniques when required.

Requirements

  • Several years working with a similar population with delays in a residential setting and a High School diploma or GED.
  • Possess a valid Illinois Driver’s License in compliance with the driving standards as identified on Form CFS-671 and able to drive a passenger van.
  • Must possess the ability to interact professionally and work effectively as a treatment team member.
  • Must possess the ability to communicate effectively (verbally and in writing), with Maryville youth, supervisors, coworkers, subordinates, and support agencies.
  • Must be flexible in scheduling and willing to work evening and weekend shifts.
  • Must be over the age of 21

Physical Demands

  • Required to sit, stand, walk, bend, and drive for extended periods of time. Ability to walk up and down stairs.
  • Required to lift/move objects and/or youth weighing in excess of 40 pounds.
  • Must possess ability to provide physical restraint to youth.
  • Duties involve contact with youth who may be hostile, dangerous, threatening, aggressive, suicidal and/or under the influence of drugs and alcohol.
