Medical Coordinator - San Juan Diego - Des Plaines 60016

Medical Coordinator - San Juan Diego - Des Plaines 60016

  • Must be a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • At least 3 years of experience
  • Must be over 21 years of age
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred

The Medical Coordinator ensures that children who have journeyed to the United States and are seeking family reunification receive required medical services and remain in good health during their time in care at Maryville. The Medical Coordinator oversees training and compliance of a team of four Licensed Practical Nurses or Registered nurses.

Salary $80,000


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Follows all Maryville’s policies and procedures as well as all standard operating procedures for designated work sites/programs
  • Serves as the official medical communicator with Health and Human Services (HHS)
  • Arranges for Initial Medical Evaluations and vaccinations of children with clinics and hospital partners
  • Serves at the official communicator with hospital partners
  • Ensures training of 4-6 nurses in medical policy and procedures, State of IL health regulations and Maryville procedures
  • Identifies additional training needs
  • Advises nurses on special cases, emergency department admits and hospitalizations
  • Upholds program’s Zero Tolerance of Sexual Abuse
  • Reviews portal entries by nurses for accuracy and compliance
  • Reviews all medical charting and reports
  • Conducts a weekly review of medical complaints in program and nurse/staff response using the nurse ticket system and medical logs
  • Oversees completion of Administration of Medication Management training and required updates (such as COVID, monkeypox, chickenpox updates) with all staff in program
  • Provides coverage for nurses as necessary
  • Maintains communication with public health offices, as needed
  • Performs other work-related duties as assigned


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education/Experience:

  • Registered Nurse (RN)
  • At least 3 years of experience

Skills /Knowledge:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Strong verbal, organizational, interpersonal and time management skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to coordinate with program supervisors and staff as well as with administrative staff across programs.
  • Strong computer skills; familiarity at a minimum with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Capacity to learn and manage inventory data base.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.

Physical Demands:

  • Required to frequently sit, stand, bend, stoop and walk, sometimes for extended periods.
  • Required to lift/ move objects weighing in excess of 40 pounds.
  • Must have visual, hearing, and learning capabilities sufficient to perform the essential functions defined above.

Environment and Scheduling:

  • Work is performed in designated administrative office settings and group home settings.
  • Must be flexible and available to work overtime when necessary.
  • Must be flexible to work at Des Plaines, Bartlett, and Chicago locations.

HIPAA PRIVACY TRAINING AND SANCTIONS:

All employees who have access to health information whose confidentiality is protected by the HIPAA Privacy Rule are required by the Rule to receive training so that they have an understanding and knowledge of the Privacy Rule that corresponds to their job responsibilities and of the group health plan’s policies and procedures that impact on their job duties. Site specific training on requirements of the HIPAA Privacy Rule and the plan’s health information policies and procedures under the direction of the plan privacy officer may be required for this position based upon site specific requirements. Employees who violate the requirements of the HIPAA Privacy Rule will be subject to discipline, up to and including termination.
